About Pack 3291
Pack 3291 is a co-ed Cub Scout pack for kids in grades K to 5 in Prairie Village, Kansas. We're chartered by Village Presbyterian Church and part of the Heart of America Council of Scouting America. Cub Scouting is a family program: parents aren't dropping kids off at an activity, they're part of it.
Our year
Every pack has its traditions. These are ours, in the order they come around.
Pinewood Derby
Every scout gets a block of pine and turns it into a race car. Kits come home from a pack meeting before winter break, and the build happens at your kitchen table: grown-ups run the saw, kids design, sand, paint, and add the weight. You don't need a workshop, and the pack has people with tools who love to help. Race day comes early in the new year, with heats by den, and the whole pack turns into a pit crew for a morning. Fast cars are fun; a car the kid is proud of is the point.

Blue and Gold
Each February the pack throws itself a birthday dinner. February is Scouting's birthday month, and Blue and Gold is how packs everywhere celebrate it: whole families around the tables, siblings included, the one night all of Pack 3291 sits down to eat together. Scouts wear their full uniforms; it's the pack's big night. Dates and details are on the calendar.
Service
Service runs through our whole year. Each fall we work the Clean Mile, a fundraiser and a whole-pack service project rolled into one. Each spring we collect for a local food pantry, then tour the pantry and sort the donations together, so scouts see exactly where the cans go. Spring also brings the bike rodeo at Prairie Elementary, and Scout Nights with area partners fill out the rest of the year. Dates and details are on the calendar.
Who leads the pack
Pack 3291 is run by parent volunteers, and every activity follows Scouting America's Youth Protection requirements, including two-deep adult leadership. Pack-owned role addresses make it easy to reach the right volunteer even as leadership changes.
